I read a very interesting article today about a new phenomenon called “serious gaming”. Game developers have incredible influence over an increasing number of people around the world, this new genre aims to harness that influence by being a force for good. Perhaps making the world a better place.
As I said it’s interesting stuff, the games looked kinda fun… Kinda. Judge for yourself, look up Avant Games or better still let Jane McGonigal explain it to you. Or try playing the game Darfur is Dying
Personally I’ll stick with my first person shooters for the time being, a bit less preachy and more fantastical. On the other hand I should stop playing altogether and not be that 20 something slacker stereotype.
